Drywall Tape
When you remodel a room or a house you need to do a lot of planning and make many decisions regarding how to go about it. When you decide to go for drywall construction it’s a good idea to keep in mind all the aspects. It’s a good option, not messy, not expensive and does have positive factors like being fire-resistant.
While installing drywall you need the right material. Collect the drywall sheets, the joint compound, drywall hammer, nails, measuring scale and of course the Drywall Tape. These things are easily available at the hardware stores.
Drywall Tape is a very important product and it’s important to get a good quality one. When you install the drywall, taping is done to cover the joints and put the drywall panels into place. Mostly two kinds of Drywall Tape are available – the paper tape and the mesh tape.
The most commonly used tape is the paper tape, which does not have any glue but is made of a strong paper and mostly have a line running down the center so that it can be folded as per need. A good quality Drywall Tape is wedge shaped and the center should be thicker than the edges. It can be used to make corners well. The only thing is that you need to apply a fine coat of joint or pasting compound on the joints and then paste the Drywall Tape over it. This has to be done carefully to make sure no bubbles are made in the finish.
The second Drywall Tape option that is the mesh tape has a lot of advantages. The way this tape is made makes it very strong and flexible. It is made with fiberglass and it reduces cracking due to temperature changes. It is convenient and non-messy as it already has adhesive and does not need the regular compound coating.
To use this tape you need to simply apply it on the joints and then rub it down to fix it and remove all bubbles from it. It is alkali resistant too and looks like a net and is very beneficial in checking wall cracks. Taping requires an experienced hand so that after the drywall is fixed high-quality taping will give a nice finish and strength to the wall. Deciding on the correct materials, most importantly on the correct Drywall Tape to use is also essential.
